Tambourine Time!

Tambourines are found in many forms of music. Make this simple musical instrument and strike up the band.

Time:
  1. 60 minutes or more

Age Group:
  1. 5 - 8

What you'll need:

  • BountyŽ paper towels

  • 2 plastic or foam plates

  • Spray paint (two colours)

  • Dry beans

  • Glue

  • Scissors


Directions:

  1. Spray paint two full sheets of Bounty paper towels. In another colour, spray paint the bottoms of two foam plates. Allow to dry.

  2. Cut the paper towels into long strips about 1 cm in width.

  3. Glue the paper towel strips or streamers along 1/3 of a plate rim.

  4. Place two handfuls of dry beans on the plate.

  5. Glue the second plate on top of the first plate by placing rims together. Allow to dry.

  6. Turn on the music and keep the beat with your own tambourine!
